Catalyst Museum Trip

9th February 2023

On Thursday 12th January, a convoy of owners at Boughton Hall retirement village took three cars set out to visit the Catalyst Museum and view the bridge, which was built to make another connection between Runcorn and Widnes. Prior to departing, John Smith, trip organiser, gave a short talk telling the group about the visit. It was a glorious afternoon, making the drive and views excellent.

The bridge is magnificent, with ever changing colours and aspects as you drive along.

The group arrived and were welcomed by Lyn at the tea and coffee area. Lyn has been working at the museum for many years and told them of the day when Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by Meghan Markle, Duchess of Susses, officially opened the bridge before travelling on from Runcorn Station to The Storyhouse in Chester.

The group proceeded to the Observation Floor in a hydraulically operated Tubular glass lift, to admire the 360° views over the landscape, which were amazing. There were various proactive activities to join in with, if you could tear yourself away from the scenery, and there was no official guide or other visitors to interrupt their enjoyment.

Our thanks go to John Smith for his immaculate preparation and the three drivers for transporting the group safely.
