Macmillan Coffee Morning
5th October 2021
The team at Mount Battenhall Retirement Village in Worcester organised a triumphant event on 23 September hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning in the exquisite setting of Battenhall House. The stunning Grade II* Listed refurbished mansion, rich in history and retaining many original features, is surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds and forms the heart of the community which the owners at Mount Battenhall call home.
The Covid pandemic had a disastrous impact on charities, so the dedicated staff at Mount Battenhall were determined to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan, to enable them to continue their tremendous support of cancer patients and their families, and their efforts certainly paid off with £365 collected.
This impressive total came from cakes baked by the team and a tombola, with many fantastic prizes, held for everyone to enjoy. The guests comprised homeowners at Mount Battenhall and visitors, from prospective purchasers to ex-pupils who attended Mount Battenhall in its former years as a school. This joyous event brought everyone together in aid of a fantastic cause.
It was all hands on deck prior to the event. “Emma, the General Manager of the village, had a cake baking session in the restaurant kitchen, and Susie and I baked our cakes at home after work on Wednesday evening,” said Dee Stead, Sales Consultant at Mount Battenhall, “and I also made jam the previous Sunday, having picked around 7 kilos of fruit from my father’s plum tree. It was a great morning. Everyone said they had really enjoyed it, and were happy to be part of such a worthwhile cause.”
